Splanna!
Splanna! was a project across four museums and Kresen Kernow in Cornwall to open their collections to young people. "Splanna!" translated from Cornish to English means "shine."

The Splanna! display needed to be bright, bold and youthful, as Splanna! was a project aimed at young people. For this reason, we chose a comic book style for the display panels.

Using the stunning photography of CASPN members, we created a welcome pack that celebrates the rich history the organisation are proud to protect.

The pack comprised of a welcome letter, a schedule of CASPN events, an eco-friendly car sticker and a folder to store relevant information. We worked with CASPN on the wording in the pack, in order to ensure it accurately represented their organisation.

As part of Bodmin Keep's Citizen Curator programme, volunteers began a reinterpretation of the museum's Lucknow display.

We worked closely with trainee curator Isabella Hogan to create new panels for the display.

The design for the panels came from a traditional Indian embroidery called "chikankari." We created hand-drawn floral patterns, combined with the geometric shapes used in the Lucknow quilt, which can be seen on display at the museum.

We also created an accompanying video, explaining the inspiration behind the new panels, as well as taking viewers behind-the-scenes and explaining the design process.

Kernow - A Zine
In 2017 the pilot for Citizen Curators began, based at The Royal Cornwall Museum. This successful pilot meant that Citizen Curators became a 3-year programme with citizen curators in 7 Cornish museums.

Alongside specific, museum-based projects, citizen curators worked on the Cornish National Collection, submitting things they felt reflected Cornish identity.

Argh Kenedhlek Kernow ("Cornwall's National Ark") needed to be preserved and presented in a way that embraced this range of concepts. The idea of creating a "zine" seemed ideal.
